South day 8

Another beautiful sunny day. Left Picton after stopping at The Village Bakery for French bread and Danish pastries.

South then West along the Awatere Valley. We stopped at Havelock marina at The Slip Inn where we had mussels (what else). Highly recommended. The owner sold us the wine glasses we admired! A dollar each.

View from the terrace.

So no more drinking from cheap water tumblers.

After lunch we headed to Nelson and stopped in Stoke at McCashins brewery – Stoke NPA (Nelson pale ale) being a favourite of mine. I got six mixed ales. Hania took a liking to the Rochdale cider they also brew.

From there we crossed Takaka Hill into Golden Bay.

Karst scenery on Takaka Hill.
