Lockdown Day 23

Finishing up my accounts today, it’s been a pretty good year so I have some tax to pay. This one is going to be tough: We went for the usualt afternoon walk in somewhat threatening weather but the rain held off. Imagine building it with picks and shovels. https://nzhistory.govt.nz/media/photo/alexandra-redoubt-0

Lockdown Day 22

I’ve been really busy today: We also had time for a walk, Vicky’s chicken wanted to come too. But we didn’t let it in case it stayed out with the goats: Or with funny face (I’m not telling you which one is funny face)

Lockdown Day 21

Woo hoo, we are into week 4 and hoping that we will move cautiously to open up some more services, particularly online deliveries and services requiring no interaction – eg maybe we can get our grass cut again. Got some delicious mushrooms today picked from the nearby paddock and Hania made a terrific soup. The […]

Lockdown Day 20

End of the third week and life settles into a pattern of sorts. Work in the morning, couple of client tweaks and then some study on Coursera to bring myself up-to-date with the latest on online learning. Not a lot has changed but it’s good to re-visit the academics once in a while. Ana’s staring […]

Lockdown Day 19

Blast from the past. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CompuServe Easter Monday, a piece of lamb from our neighbours in exchange for free range eggs. Casseroled with apples and turned out well. Also enough left for slow cooking and a good bone for stock. Cranium to round off the evening.

Lockdown Day 18

Easter Sunday, except that we are holding Easter over until tomorrow so Mike can share it with us, he’s worked the past few days on the front line. We have a whole lamb rack of ribs from the neighbours which I’ve never cooked before so tomorrow should be interesting. It’s not like the tiny racks […]

Lockdown Day 17

We slept in today and mooched around the house until lunchtime. Later on Vicky, Ana and I went for a walk and decided to explore Mātakitaki Lane which runs off the main road opposite the Sports and Rugby Club. Mātakitaki pā has a bloody history being one of the sites of a major battle during […]

Lockdown Day 16

Good Friday today so not much work for anyone. Spent the morning playing with Camtasia. Then a walk before lunch. An afternoon of Minecraft before dinner. Traditional fare of herrings, potatoes and vodka. Friends in the time of Covid-19 Letter from Janne Ritskes, Tabitha Cambodia. Dear friends and partners, During this difficult period of the […]

Lockdown Day 15

Another busy one today but also a very sad one, one of my heroes died today. I first heard John Prine on John Peel around 1971 or 1972 when, as a student, I had a lot of time for listening to music. The tracks were from his first album and memorable right from the start […]

Lockdown Day 14

Another busy day in front of the computer unfortunately. Project proposal for the EU and some local learning sites to set up/maintain. It was also not a very nice day for going outside. Ana finished her treasure box and more was done with the jigsaw and the neighbours came by to show us their haul […]
